History

Tales&Legends has not been around long — so this list is short, and honestly so. We are writing it down anyway, because we would have liked to know how other organising teams started out before we began ourselves.

March 2026

Our first own event among friends – a tavern night in the Barony of Whitestone.

On 14 March 2026 we played our first tavern night at Rittergut Leppersdorf near Wachau — still an informal group, with no association, no bank account, borrowed benches and a stew we cooked ourselves. About 20 people came, most of them friends, some in costume for the very first time. The evening played out as a birthday feast for Baron Ahren in the Barony of Whitestone, our corner of the Realms of Lorell setting. It proved two things: that a genuinely low-threshold entry point works, and that a five-euro ticket is enough when nobody is trying to earn anything that night.

June 2026

Founding of Tales&Legends gUG as the organization behind our events.

Three months later the group became an organisation: in June 2026 we founded Tales&Legends gemeinnützige UG (haftungsbeschränkt), registered at the Amtsgericht Dresden under HRB 48120, with its seat in Freital. The reason was unromantic: without a legal form there is no organiser's liability insurance, no contracts with venues, no donation receipts and no access to grants. The charter sets out the purpose — supporting arts and culture as well as youth and elderly welfare, in particular through live action role playing. Everyone involved has worked as a volunteer ever since; nothing is paid out.

August 2026

Supported the Wayfarer camp at Conquest of Mythodea 2026.

From 5 to 9 August 2026 we were guests at Conquest of Mythodea at Rittergut Brokeloh, supporting the Wayfarer camp — not as the organiser, but as the legal sponsor and funder in the background. The accompanying campaign was our first ever: the goal was 2,650 €, and 3,072.79 € came in from 29 supporters. It paid for barrier tape and pegs, firewood, hay bales and beer benches for the communal areas, camp equipment and repairs to the lighting. What happened to the money is set out in the statement of funds used on the project page.

August 2026

Adopted our youth protection concept.

In the same month we adopted our child and youth protection concept: enhanced background checks for everyone working with minors, fixed staffing ratios, safety tools such as the X-Card, and a written procedure for handling boundary violations. We deliberately wrote it so that other organising teams can adopt it, and published the templates as downloadable appendices — safeguarding is not a competitive advantage worth keeping to yourself.

September 2026

Our knowledge section went live with 14 beginner guides.

Because the same questions reach us before every event — what do I wear, what does it cost, do I need a weapon? — we wrote the answers down: 14 guides from "what is LARP?" through costume, armour and weapon safety to character creation and post-larp blues, plus a glossary and an FAQ, all in German and English. They are free to read and are explicitly aimed at parents too, who want to know what their child is getting into.

What comes next

Next up are more tavern nights around Dresden, along with our first own youth events run under our safeguarding concept. Dates are announced in the newsletter first. Our first accountability report will be published in 2027, covering the first full financial year.
